An unexploded mortar shell was discovered on Rehovot’s main thoroughfare earlier today, with police believing it is an old munition that belonged to the IDF.

Bomb disposal experts disarmed the explosive after officers from the city’s police station called them to the scene on Herzl Street, police say, adding that further searches are underway to rule out any additional risk to the public.

The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
