Omani FM reports ‘quite substantial progress’ on a US-Iran deal

In an interview with CBS News, Oman’s top diplomat reiterates his assessment that a US-Iran “peace deal is within our reach” and then the technical details could be hammered out within a “three months kind of cycle.”

“I don’t think any alternative to diplomacy is going to solve this problem,” Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi tells “Face the Nation,” referring to Iran’s nuclear program.

“We have already achieved quite substantial progress in the direction of a deal,” he adds. “The heart of this deal is very important and I think we have captured that heart.”
