Report: Israeli intel officials believe slim chance Iran protests will bring down regime

Israeli intelligence officials assess there is a slim chance at this time that the current wave of protests in Iran will lead to the fall of the regime, Channel 12 reports.

The network says the assessments presented to Israeli leaders assert that the Revolutionary Guard’s paramilitary Basij forces “have been able to clamp down relatively effectively on protests” and that there is no sign of wavering loyalty to the regime in the security forces.

Intelligence officials also posit that Iran could seek to renew nuclear talks with Washington, as “negotiations, regardless of how they conclude, serve the regime at this time.”
