Report: US whistleblower complaint involves call discussing Iran and someone close to Trump

A top-secret whistleblower complaint last year that the US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard allegedly sought to block, was reportedly about a conversation involving Iran.
The New York Times reports that the complaint involved the interception of a call between two foreign nationals in which they discussed individual close to US President Donald Trump in a conversation that also involved Iran.
The newspaper says the nationality of the two is unclear.
The report notes that the call was in May last year, around the time the US was planning its strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
A top-secret complaint filed with the intelligence community’s inspector general last May by an anonymous government official alleged that the US spy chief’s office sought to prevent the routine dissemination of certain classified intelligence for political reasons.
Gabbard disputes claims by lawmakers that she sought to block Congress from accessing the complaint, saying she took “immediate action” once notified of the need to provide security guidance for its release.
A November letter from Andrew Bakaj, the whistleblower’s lawyer, to Gabbard’s office, which was also shared with the House of Representatives and Senate intelligence committees, alleged that Gabbard had hindered the dissemination of the complaint to lawmakers by failing to provide necessary security guidance on how to handle it.
