US condemns ‘brutal’ Sudan crackdown, urges civilian-led government
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe United States condemns Sudanese military leaders’ “brutal” crackdown on protesters and says that better relations with Washington would be contingent on moving toward a civilian-led government.
“This was a brutal and coordinated attack, led by the Rapid Support Forces militia, that mirrors some of the worst offenses of the Bashir regime,” tweets Tibor Nagy, the assistant secretary of state for Africa, referring to toppled strongman Omar al-Bashir.
