Docs drop sick beat against infection

Israeli hospital produces viral video of medical staff breaking down importance of keeping clean

Wary of constantly pestering patients about the importance of maintaining proper hygiene, the staff at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem tried out a hipper, street-friendlier approach: rap.

The medical facility produced a music video, replete with dance moves, verses and solos, featuring the hospital’s doctors and nurses dropping a beat about bacteria, viruses and getting ill from not washing your hands.

“We’re raising the issue and beginning the mission,” goes the chorus, “we’re ridding bacteria from the department now, so run your hands under water and give it some soap and some [clap clap].”

Espousing the virtues of anti-bacterial hand gel, the song professes that “a little wash and 20 seconds, fewer sad patients.”

The video, entitled “A dangerous intruder discovered at Shaare Zedek Medical Center,” was uploaded to YouTube on September 21 and has already garnered over 100,000 views, making it — in more sense than one — a viral video.

The song is a medical cover of Subliminal and the Shadow’s “Finali.”
