First deals for Bennett-Lapid government could be signed within a day — report

The first coalition agreements could be signed over the coming 24 hours amid efforts to quickly form a government in which the premiership will be rotated between Yesh Atid party leader Yair Lapid and Yamina chief Naftali Bennett, Channel 12 news reports, citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the negotiations.

The network says significant progress has been made in negotiations with the left-wing Meretz party and the right-wing secularist Yisrael Beytenu.

Lapid and Bennett are set to meet Mansour Abbas, head of the Islamist Ra’am party, later in the day after progress was reported yesterday on that front.
