Gantz updates Austin on a briefing he will give to Biden after he lands, his office says.
The two also spoke on “strengthening additional elements in the regional cooperation,” according to a statement.
“The defense minister wished to convey to the secretary of defense a special thank you for his personal contribution to the advancement of security cooperation between the countries led by the Pentagon,” the statement adds.
The potential military pact between Israel and its Arab allies, which Gantz has dubbed “MEAD — Middle East Air Defense,” is meant to connect regional air defense systems to combat Iran’s increasing use of drones and missiles in the Middle East.
