IDF probe: Commando whose weapon was stolen did all he could to stop it

The IDF says an investigation has shown a commando soldier whose weapon was stolen from him during a training exercise behaved properly during the incident and did all that he could to prevent the theft.

The soldier was lightly injured when he was attacked by a number of suspects who stole his weapon during an overnight navigation exercise in northern Israel earlier this month, in an incident the IDF chief of staff condemned as “crossing a red line.”

The military says a probe showed the soldier fought strongly against several assailants who accosted him and there was no failure in his conduct, given the circumstances.
