Dozens of Israeli Air Force fighter jets carried out a wave of airstrikes in the area of Iran’s capital Tehran overnight, the military says.

The many targets hit included Iranian air defense infrastructure, the IDF says.

“For the first time since the beginning of the war, dozens of Air Force fighter jets flew over the skies of Tehran, more than 1,500 kilometers from Israel, and attacked defense systems in the Tehran area,” IAF chief Tomer Bar says.

“We chose to act in the face of an existential threat to the security of our citizens, with professionalism, determination, and precision,” he adds.
