Jordanian government spokesman Mohammad Al-Momani denies a US Embassy claim that the kingdom issued evacuation orders for its international airport and seaport in the Red Sea city of Aqaba, the country’s official Petra news agency reports.
“The relevant authorities have not issued any evacuation orders at the Aqaba Airport or seaport,” the report reads.
Al-Momani says authorities in the Hashemite kingdom have not recorded any potential threats to Aqaba over the last several hours.
Both the Aqaba airport and seaport are operating normally, he adds, according to Petra.
The US Embassy had cited a “specific and credible threat,” apparently related to Iran.
Two US soldiers were killed in an Iranian strike in Jordan on Friday.
