Labor MK Gilad Kariv says at a Peace Now conference that once the war with Hamas in Gaza is over a diplomatic process involving the Palestinian Authority, with the goal of creating a “sovereign Palestinian framework,” must be established.
“We must insist that the final goal that will guarantee the future of the State of Israel is the separation between the Palestinians and us and the establishment of a sovereign, viable Palestinian framework in [the West Bank] and Gaza, alongside a Jewish and democratic State of Israel, while maintaining the necessary security arrangements,” says Kariv at the conference in Tel Aviv.
He says the Israeli left, “in the face of a [political] center that is silent on the [right-wing] vision of settlements in the heart of Gaza,” must build a new unified movement that will offer a fresh, clear vision for the country — a process he argues must begin immediately.
