Macron: France reaffirms Israel’s right to defend itself, condemns Iran nuclear program

French President Emmanuel Macron says that France has repeatedly condemned the Iranian nuclear program and reaffirms Israel’s right to protect itself, after the IDF launched widespread strikes on Iran and Tehran vowed to retaliate.
Writing in a post on social media platform X, Macron says France has “repeatedly condemned Iran’s ongoing nuclear program and has taken all appropriate diplomatic measures in response.”
“France reaffirms Israel’s right to defend itself and ensure its security,” he writes. “To avoid jeopardizing the stability of the entire region, I call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to de-escalate.”
He says he has spoken with several world leaders, including Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, and US President Donald Trump.
