Trump ‘not happy’ with Iran’s conduct in nuclear talks, says still no decision on strike

US President Donald Trump says he’s “not happy” with the way Iran is acting in nuclear negotiations, but hasn’t made a decision yet on whether to authorize a strike.

“I don’t want to, but sometimes you have to,” Trump tells reporters while leaving the White House when asked about the possibility of the US using military force against Iran.

He claims Iran is refusing to say the “golden words: no nuclear weapon.”

In fact, Iranian officials have stated this repeatedly, including in recent days, while claiming they have a right to enrich uranium for energy, medical and economic purposes.

“Iran will never have nuclear weapons… Not on my watch,” Trump insists. “We haven’t made a decision on Iran yet, but I want to make a deal now.”

He says additional talks on the issue will be held on Friday, ostensibly referring to later today, when US Vice President JD Vance is set to meet with the foreign minister of Oman, who has been mediating the talks with Iran.

“There may or may not be regime change in Iran,” Trump responds to a separate question on the matter.

American officials have said in the past that the goal of a US strike is to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, but Trump has also remarked several times that regime change could be a positive development.
