US says it targeted IRGC forces who attacked troops in Jordan
The US military says overnight strikes targeted Iranian forces who launched a deadly attack on American soldiers stationed in Jordan, announcing the completion of an eighth consecutive night of airstrikes amid spiraling tensions in the region.
The Pentagon’s Central Command, or CENTCOM, does not provide any details on the retaliatory strike by “American military assets” against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces or its results.
CENTCOM says air strikes also “successfully hit Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities.”
US Central Command said Saturday that two service members were killed in an Iranian ballistic missile attack on Jordan a day earlier. It said a third US service member was missing in action and four others were wounded.
