Outspoken comedian Amy Schumer has been tireless lately in her gun control advocacy. But with it being Hanukkah and all, she managed to take a break to spread some Hanukkah cheer.

Schumer, 34, posted a holiday video on Instagram Monday. For a change, this video was not characterized by her provocative, ribald humor. Instead, it was a clip from a home movie of her as a very young girl singing a Hanukkah song.

Schumer, who appears to be no more than five or six years old in the video, sings a lovely little ditty, which doesn’t exactly sound like any of the Hanukkah classics most of us learned in Hebrew school.

Dressed in a festive white shirt, standing near a menorah, and with a big bow in her hair, she sweetly croons, “It’s just Happy Hanukkah. Happy Hanukkah. Happy Hanukkah to you and you and you.”

We’ll just assume that either she was taught an unusual holiday music repertoire, or alternatively that she just made up the tune. Either way, her catchy song is quite the earworm. (Don’t claim you haven’t been warned.)

Not surprisingly, the young Schumer has great stage presence, not to mention an excellent sense of rhythm, as is evident from how she punctuates her song with off-camera claps and little cymbal clashes.

Now that we’ve all basked in the nostalgic glow of Schumer celebrating Hanukkah past, we are sure she is already back shining the spotlight on present-day legislators she believes are not acting in the best interests of Americans. Just last Friday she urged her fans to call their lawmakers’ offices to protest the Republican-controlled Senate’s recent voting down proposed legislation to prevent individuals on a federal terror watch list from buying guns.

The holiday season is a time to spend time with family. Given how dedicated Schumer is to changing America’s gun laws, one family member we are likely to see her with this month is her cousin Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, with whom she has joined forces in the effort to crack down on gun violence.
