A 20-year-old Palestinian was injured by gunfire by Israeli security forces in the West Bank Sunday after hurling Molotov cocktails at a Border Police vehicle, the police said.
Israeli police officers chased a handful of assailants following an initial firebomb attack on their jeep, and spotted a Palestinian armed with another Molotov cocktail.
Police opened fire on the man after he ignored warnings to desist and continued to light the firebomb, Israel Radio reported.
No Israeli troops were injured in the incident, which took place near the village of Hawara, south of Nablus, but the jeep sustained damage.
The assailant was evacuated to Israel for medical treatment and will be interrogated by the Shin Bet.
