It wouldn’t be a Christmas album without some famous Jews.

Following in the grand tradition of Irving “White Christmas” Berlin, Barbra Streisand and Kenny G will contribute their musical talents to a high-profile album honoring the December holiday (or, as we like to call it, “the Christian Hanukkah”).

While the collection — simply titled “This Christmas” — will principally be a reunion record for “Grease” co-stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, Streisand and G will each perform on one track. Streisand, who’s already got a very Jewish movie coming out Christmas Day, will join Travolta and Newton-John for “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” For his part, G (ne Gorelick) will add some sax appeal to “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” written by Jewish composer Johnny Marks back in 1958.

Despite the album’s Christian inspiration, the Jewish performers can count it as a mitzva — proceeds will be donated to Travolta and Newton-John’s charities, which fight children’s disabilities and cancer, respectively.

Other celebrity participants include Tony Bennett and James Taylor.

Entertainment Weekly predicts — probably accurately — that the collection will prove “fantastically cheesy.” From the people who sang this song, we’d expect nothing less.
