A 16-year-old boy from Petah Tikva died early Saturday morning after being stabbed during a fight between two gangs which one of the perpetrators said erupted between two youths competing for a girl’s affections.
Four teens were arrested Saturday in connection with the stabbing.
The youth said that the fight broke out over a girl two youths — neither of them the stabbing victim — were interested in, after one of the youths saw the girl sitting with the other youth and his friends in the park. The youth and his friends then attacked the group that was sitting with the girl.
The teen suffered multiple serious stab wounds during the scuffle in a public park and was taken to Beilinson Medical Center in Petah Tikva, where he was pronounced dead.
Police opened an investigation of the incident and reportedly found bottles of alcohol at the park.
Two teens were detained by the police for questioning and are suspected of involvement in the teen’s murder, but are not being charged with the murder itself. Police said additional arrests were expected to be made.
