2 new lawmakers sworn in as cabinet okays 4 new deputy ministers
Two new lawmakers are sworn into the Knesset following the resignation of Yamina and Yesh Atid party ministers through the so-called “Norwegian Law,” and the cabinet approves four new deputy ministers.
The Norwegian Law allows any MK who is appointed to a cabinet post to step down temporarily from the Knesset, thereby permitting the next candidate on the party’s slate to enter parliament in their stead.
Yamina’s Yomtob Kalfon enters parliament after Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked resigned from the Knesset, while Yesh Atid’s Inbar Bezek will replace Energy Minister Karine Elharrar.
At the same time, the cabinet informs the Knesset of four new political appointments: Yamina’s Abir Kara is appointed deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Office; Yesh Atid’s Idan Roll is appointed deputy foreign minister; Blue and White’s Alon Schuster is appointed deputy defense minister; and Yesh Atid’s Yoav Segelavich is appointed deputy public security minister.
