The Israel Police and Shin Bet security service have arrested an Arab suspect over a  firebombing in Jaffa that left a 12-year-old Arab resident from the ethnically mixed coastal city seriously injured.

Police say the suspect, a Jaffa resident in his 20s, was arrested overnight for his suspected involvement in the incident. He has been handed over to the Shin Bet for questioning.

A judge issues a gag order on publishing further details of the case.

The attack in the Ajami neighborhood on Friday night came amid Arab-Jewish violence that has roiled the country.
