IDF: False rocket alarm caused by technical issue, not cyber attack

Judah Ari Gross is The Times of Israel's religions and Diaspora affairs correspondent.

The false alarm earlier in the day that triggered sirens throughout southern Israel was caused by a “technical malfunction,” not a cyber attack, the military says.

The Israel Defense Forces says the malfunction occurred during a “routine test of the alert system.”

“During this test and afterwards, there was no damage to the operational capacity of the alert system,” the military says.
