DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Iran has executed a man convicted of shooting to death a member of the security forces during nationwide unrest sparked by the 2022 death of a young woman in police custody, the judiciary’s Mizan news agency reports.

Rights groups say authorities often rely on forced confessions obtained under torture to convict protesters. Iran denies the accusation.
