From Knesset advances bill to allocate resources for Golan Heights development

Lawmakers vote 48-4 to advance a bill allocating “special resources” for the “development and prosperity” of the Golan Heights, as well as establishing an annual day commemorating the region on the sixth of the Hebrew month of Tevet in a preliminary reading.
The bill, sponsored by a multi-partisan group of lawmakers led by Otzma Yehudit MK Yitzhak Kroizer, does not specify a specific allocation for this development, instead merely stating that “the government shall work to develop and promote the prosperity of the Golan Heights, the Jewish settlement in the Golan Heights, and the welfare of its residents, including agriculture and nature conservation, by allocating special resources.”
