Prime Minister Yair Lapid helps a Holocaust survivor alight from their aircraft in Berlin after she became overwhelmed at seeing the honor guard of German soldiers.
Shoshana Trister is one of several survivors and family members who are accompanying Lapid in his visit to Germany.
“I was completely frozen inside,” Trister tells Channel 12 of her feelings on seeing German soldiers down below. “I said to the prime minister, ‘Look at their hats.'”
“And he said to me ‘I’m holding you, you will go down with me, you are not alone.'”
Video shows the prime minister arm in arm with her, comforting Trister as they descend the stairs.
Trister tells Channel 12 she could not look at the soldiers.
“You have to understand, it was as if I was back there 85 years ago,” she says, adding that she came with him on the visit to Germany because “I want to tell the German chancellor, maybe you don’t see it upon us, but the suffering still exists inside.”
