Ministers said to push off decision to lift closure of stores over weekends
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleAn expected decision by the government to lift an order requiring stores and malls to close over the weekend as part of measures to contain the coronavirus has been pushed off until next week following opposition from some ministers, Channel 12 news reports.
According to the network, the ministers who opposed allowing stores to remain open during the weekend were Science Minister Izhar Shay of Blue and White, who proposed that businesses be closed over Shabbat, and ultra-Orthodox ministers angry that restrictions on synagogues and group prayer wouldn’t also be eased.
