WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump says he believes Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will join the Board of Peace responsible for overseeing the redevelopment of Gaza.
“I believe we’re going to be lucky enough to have the crown prince be a very distinguished member of the board,” Trump says in remarks before the US-Saudi Investment Forum in Washington that lasted over an hour.
The crown prince has yet to confirm his involvement in the yet-to-be-formed, Trump-chaired Board of Peace.
Trump said last night that he hopes MBS will join the panel along with many world leaders. The UN Security Council passed a US-sponsored resolution earlier this week that gave the board a broad mandate to manage postwar Gaza over the next two years.
“In the coming months, the crown prince and I are going to ensure that the ceasefire and everything else that’s going on in the Middle East that’s so positive in the Middle East…” Trump begins, before carrying on with an unrelated thought.
