A Jerusalem planning committee green-lights the expropriation of 200 dunams of land in Givat Hamatos, according to Hebrew media reports.

The properties are designated for public structures and other construction in the East Jerusalem neighborhood, which Israel sees as part of its capital though it’s over the Green Line.

The reported move comes as Foreign Minister Yair Lapid is in Washington for high-level meetings.
