Two men were seriously injured Friday morning in a paraglider crash near Modiin.

According to Magen David Adom, the crash occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Friday, in the area between Mevo Horon and Latrun, just outside Modiin. Two men believed to be in their 50s were transported to Sheba Hospital in Tel HaShomer in serious condition with multiple injuries.

Dr. Eli Jaffe, the deputy director general of MDA, who was the first to arrive at the scene, said the crash was called in by bike riders who witnessed it.

“Cyclists who spotted the crash directed us to the scene,” said Jaffe. “We saw the tiny aircraft that crashed and nearby lay two men in their 50s who were conscious.”

Jaffe said that MDA “provided them with life-saving medical care in the field, and evacuated them in an intensive care mobile unit to the hospital in critical condition.”

Police said they were investigating the incident.
