Five Palestinians reported wounded by Israeli soldiers near Gaza fence

IDF says incidents triggered by rioters converging on the border

IDF forces on Wednesday shot and wounded five Gazans near the border fence, according to Palestinian sources. Four Palestinians were said to have been wounded at the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, while a fifth man was injured near the Erez checkpoint.

The IDF said that, in both cases, dozens of Palestinians approached the fence, rioting and trying to damage the fence. After IDF soldiers ordered them to leave, but the Palestinians persisted in their attempts. The soldiers first fired in the air and then at the legs of the protesters.
