Two students from the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center came in second place in a prestigious international debating championship last week, prevailing in the process over teams from universities such as Cambridge, Columbia and London School of Economics.

Alon Van Dam of Holland and Ben Gladnikoff of Sweden, both studying at the Raphael Recanati International School, came second to the Bangladeshi team in the ‘English as a Second Language’ category. The result put an end to Israeli domination of the category in the last three years.

The World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) is considered the largest debating tournament in the world. Held this year December 27, 2012 to January 4, 2013, it hosted over 1,200 participant from 82 countries.
