An IAF ‘Sky Rider’ drone crashed in Gaza during an operation Tuesday morning due to what was widely reported as a technical problem.

The remote-controlled craft fell in the southern Gaza strip, about 500 meters from the Israeli border. Members of Islamic terror group Hamas were already at the crash site and were collecting fragments of the drone, according to Gaza sources cited in an Israel Radio report.

The IAF said it was investigating the incident.

In November, a similar crash of a Skylark mini-UAV, used by the IAF for reconnaissance, was claimed to have been caused by Hamas forces, who later displayed parts of the drone on Gazan television.
