JALALABAD, Afghanistan — A suicide attack killed three Turkish engineers and wounded another on Monday in eastern Afghanistan, officials said.

“Around 7:15 a.m., a suicide bomber detonated his explosive-packed motorbike targeting a minibus belong to Turkish engineers in Behsud district of Nangarhar province,” Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, Nangarhar provincial governor spokesman, told AFP.

A Turkish official speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed the death toll and nationality of the victims.

On Sunday, US officials said that Bowe Bergdahl, the only US soldier captured by the Taliban since the war began in 2001, was freed after almost five years in captivity in exchange for five senior insurgents who had been detained at the US military prison in Guantanamo Bay.
