Yair Lapid called for the toppling of the national unity government formed this week in a speech given at the Majdi Forum in Kfar Saba on Friday.
Lapid responded to statements by protesters earlier this week saying, “I agree that we must topple this evil government.” He also stressed the need for electoral reform, change in the system of governance, and a smaller government.
“Switzerland has seven ministers, and we have 36 ministers and deputy ministers and they want to add three more, in addition to Mofaz as a minister without portfolio,” he said.
In order to enact such changes, Lapid said his Yesh Atid party need only win 15 seats in the next elections, slated for November 2013.
He also attacked newly appointed Vice Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz and Vice Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon.

“Shaul Mofaz was appointed minister without portfolio this week. Is this not corruption? Moshe Ya’alon is a decent man, but what’s Minister of Strategic Affairs? This is also corruption,” Lapid said.
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
