Band of counterfeiters suspected of forging US documents

Tel Aviv police arrest three after embassy official smells a rat

Tel Aviv police arrested three people suspected of operating a counterfeiting ring selling fake US visas among other documents, on Monday, Israeli Radio reported.

One of the three is a graphic designer who is suspected  of falsifying dozens, if not hundreds, of visas, pay stubs, green cards and study permits. It is believed the ring operated in tandem with a US company selling cosmetic products.

Police became aware of the counterfeiting ring after a US Embassy worker in Tel Aviv cast suspicion on the authenticity of the documents she received.

The police are expected to summon dozens of suspects for questioning in the next few days.
