An Israeli man was found shot dead near a Kiev synagogue in what is believed to have been a robbery rather than an anti-Semitic incident.
The body of Sachroch Torsonov, 29, of Jerusalem, was found late Wednesday night near the Brodsky Synagogue in the center of the Ukrainian capital, local media reported.
A suspect has been arrested after being found in the victim’s car several hours after the killing.
Police said the suspect tried to steal the victim’s car, making the motive criminal.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said that the victim “is known to us and the incident is being handled by the Israeli Embassy in Kiev.”
