Jewish man held for attacking Arabs in Jerusalem supermarket

Suspect sent for psychiatric evaluation after assaulting workers and cops who came to arrest him in Talpiot store

Police arrested a Jewish man who attacked several Arab workers in a supermarket in Jerusalem on Thursday night.

The man entered the supermarket, in the Talpiot neighborhood of the city, and started attacking the Arab employees while shopping, police said in a statement on Friday, after questioning the suspect.

The workers required medical treatment.

The man then attacked police officers who arrived to arrest him, police said.

He was taken in for questioning and underwent a psychiatric evaluation.

The suspect, who was not named, will appear in court for a hearing on Friday morning.

Among other things, police were to recommend he undergo a full psychiatric assessment.
