Police have arrested an additional suspect this morning in connection to an arson incident near the prime minister’s home, police announce.
At the same time, police update that a Jerusalem court has extended the remand of six people arrested over their alleged involvement in the same fires, set during citywide protests against the prime minister.
The six suspects are being investigated on suspicion of causing a fire that damaged trash bins and a car in Jerusalem’s Rehavia neighborhood, forcing residents nearby to evacuate. No injuries were reported.
They will remain in detention until September 25, police say.
The fires prompted Netanyahu to hit out at protesters, saying they acted “like fascists,” though hostage families and protest organizers themselves condemned the arson.
