Antisemitic attacks rising in Canada at alarming rate, says B’nai Brith

Antisemitism continues to increase at an alarming rate in Canada, with 27 violent antisemitic incidents in Canada since the beginning of the year, B’nai Brith Canada says in a statement.

After a spate of hate incidents in Quebec this month, the country has already experienced more than double the 10 violent attacks committed during the whole of 2025, the organization says.

The latest violent incidents occurred during a series of what appear to have been coordinated hate-motivated assaults in Montreal on July 3, when multiple Jewish men walking home from Shabbat services in the area were assaulted, robbed and harassed.

In one case, the statement says, the video shows perpetrators striking the victims and stealing their fur shtreimel hats. In another, a man appears to have thrown a water bottle at a victim, while in another, an individual is alleged to have uttered antisemitic slurs.

“These hate-driven attacks are becoming more targeted, more brazen, and more heinous,” says Richard Robertson, B’nai Brith Canada’s director of research and advocacy. “It is unacceptable that this is occurring in our country during 2026.”
