Israeli carrier Arkia updates that it will extend the suspension of flights through Monday following the closure of the country’s airspace amid US-Israel strikes on Iran.
Earlier today, Arkia cancelled all flights through Sunday after the airspace closure cut off Israelis from international travel, leaving thousands stranded abroad.
For now, Arkia has stopped ticket sales until March 15. Meanwhile, the airline says it has prepared a repatriation flight schedule to help bring Israelis back home.
The repatriation schedule “will go into effect as soon as the skies reopen and will include hundreds of flights to city centers around the world,” Arkia says.
Throughout the day, Israel’s three major airlines El Al, Arkia, and Israir moved their fleets parked at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport out of the country to prevent them from being targeted in an Iranian attack.
