Ayelet Shaked gives testimony to police in judicial corruption probe

Former justice minister Ayelet Shaked gave open testimony to police this morning regarding corruption suspicions against the former Bar Association chairman and the former Tel Aviv District Court president.
Shaked gave her testimony to investigators in the Lahav 433 major crimes unit, police say in a statement announcing the new development in the case, which was opened two years ago.
Former Bar Association chairman Efi Nave and former Tel Aviv District Court president Eitan Orenstein are suspected of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust for sustaining what police characterize as a “give and take” relationship.
Police suspect that Nave intervened to secure Orenstein’s appointment as Tel Aviv District Court president in return for later favors. Orenstein, in turn, is believed to have promoted judges favored by Israel’s ex-top attorney.
The investigation into the suspicions is ongoing, police say.
