The BBC will defend itself against US President Donald Trump’s defamation lawsuit seeking $10 billion in damages, a spokesperson for the British broadcaster confirms.

“As we have made clear previously, we will be defending this case. We are not going to make further comment on ongoing legal proceedings,” a BBC spokesperson says after Trump filed the lawsuit in Florida over a documentary that misleadingly edited his 2021 speech ahead of the US Capitol riot.
