Draft summaries in Sde Teiman leak probe allege internal concealment – report

Police investigators have concluded that a senior officer concealed the fact that the leak of surveillance footage from the Sde Teiman military detention facility originated from within the law enforcement system itself, Channel 12 reports, citing summaries from the police investigation that have yet to be formally released.

According to the report, Deputy Military Advocate General Brig. Gen. Gal Asael – who oversaw the internal investigation into the leak – realized during the probe that the footage had been leaked from former military advocate general Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, but allegedly concealed that finding.

Asael is also said to have hidden this information from investigators from the Department of Internal Police Investigations (DIPI), who were involved in the case and were unaware of the true source of the leak.

Channel 12 says that investigative materials, testimonies and phone records contained in the draft investigation summaries indicate DIPI investigators did not know that the leak originated from within the system. As a result, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara is not expected to be summoned to testify as part of the investigation.

The Channel 12 report adds that, despite police having completed their findings, it remains unclear how the case will proceed, as no supervising prosecutor or external authority has yet been appointed to oversee the probe. The conclusions are expected to be formally submitted in the coming days.
