A vehicle crashed through a security barrier near Ben Gurion Airport before fleeing on foot, police say.
Police say that the incident is not believed to be terror-related in nature, but rather a criminal event.
In a statement, police say that a “suspicious vehicle bearing a fake license plate” arrived at the main entrance gate to the airport, ignored the instructions of security guards, and kept driving before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
Police officers are searching for the driver. An examination of the vehicle by bomb disposal experts found no explosives, and there is no threat of a security incident, police say.
Such instances have happened repeatedly over the years, often by Palestinians who steal cars inside Israel and accidentally enter airport grounds while attempting to get away.
