At least 4,137 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since Israel’s war against the Hamas terror group began, the Hamas-controlled health ministry says.
The ministry says another 13,162 people have been wounded, in figures that cannot immediately be independently verified.
While the terror group attributed all the deaths to Israeli airstrikes, some are likely to have been caused by misfired Palestinian rockets landing inside the Strip. Israel says over 450 such impacts have occurred since October 7, including a major blast at a Gaza City hospital’s parking lot in which Hamas says 471 people were killed, while Western intelligence estimates the toll to be in the dozens or lower hundreds.
The numbers for Gaza don’t include some 1,500 Palestinian terrorists Jerusalem says were killed inside Israeli territory following the mass Hamas invasion.
