Hamas top official says group doesn’t want war with Israel
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleMahmoud al-Zahar, a senior Hamas official in the Gaza Strip, says his group is not seeking war with Israel, and insists that the tunnels being dug by his organization beneath the Palestinian enclave are for defensive purposes only.
“I think nobody here in the region is looking for a war,” Zahar says, according to Reuters.
“We are not looking for any confrontation with Israel, but if they are going to launch an aggression we have to defend ourselves.”
