Health Ministry: Prince Tahina knew about contamination weeks ago

The Health Ministry says the company believed to be responsible for salmonella in hummus and tehina in Israel knew about the contamination some two weeks ago.

The head of the ministry’s public health services, Prof. Itamar Grotto, tells reporters that the managers of the Prince Tahina factory were called in for a hearing where they were told unequivocally to destroy the raw tahina at the plant, Ynet reports.

Grotto also says that the factory’s license to produce tehina has been revoked.

Prince Tahina said earlier today that it has located the suspected source of the contamination — a faulty pipe in the factory.
