The Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, military sites, and top military and nuclear officials were enabled by “breakthrough intelligence” obtained by the Military Intelligence Directorate in the past year, a senior IDF official says.

The official says dedicated units were established in the Israeli Air Force and Intelligence Directorate in the past year, “focused on Iran and preparations for a large-scale strike.”

Following Israel’s strike on Iran in October, “the Intelligence Directorate carried out an unprecedented concentration of efforts to build an opening blow against senior Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists,” the official adds.
