Police announce the arrest of a man suspected in a string of recent shootings and grenade blasts targeting business owners in central Israel, including a number of branches of the Japanika sushi chain.
The suspect, a resident of Tel Aviv in his 40s, underwent interrogation by police investigators and will be brought tomorrow to the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court for a remand hearing.
Additional arrests are expected, police say.
Last night, a man was lightly injured in a grenade attack in south Tel Aviv, one of two blasts that occurred within a short time of each other in the area.
At least eight grenade attacks were reported across the country overnight, Channel 12 reported this morning. According to the Hebrew outlet, the wave of violence is linked to an escalating conflict between the Jarushi and Musli crime families.
