MK Uri Ariel urges Gaza op to end rocket fire

Construction and Housing Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) says that although an extended ground operation in the Gaza Strip will exact a heavy price from Israel, it is necessary in order to stop the rocket fire on Israeli towns and cities.

Ariel tells Channel 2 that he believes the rocket launchings can be stopped without reconquering the Gaza Strip completely, a possibility likely to cost the lives of many Palestinians and IDF soldiers.

He says “the United States in Iraq,” which is fighting the rising threat of Islamist militants, should aspire to be as moral as the Israeli army is.
